Jeep's 2018 Canadian GP!

Post by Jeep »

Hey everyone!

Sorry I'm a little late on the Thursday pics (I got home too late).

Thursday:

Believe it or not, the Canadian GP now has a mascot! And, of course, it's a groundhog (what else?) called "Vroum" (that's the French spelling).

Image

The Mercedes Control Center is ready.

Image

I asked. Those are supposed to be purple Ultra-Softs and there's still no sweat recovery system.

Image

*Everything* is violently pink at Force India!

Image

The tire choices for this weekend.

Image

The air rig at Toro Rosso.

Image

They spent some design money on the air rig at McLaren!

Image

If nothing else, Sauber have the nicest posts!

Image

That Sauber nose looks so clean, and will get so dirty...

Image

Working hard at Mercedes.

Image

Mercedes stopping power (1/2)

Image

More work at Mercedes.

Image

Mercedes stopping power (2/2)

Image

Ferrari front brakes

Image

That thing almost looks threatening...

Image

Ferrari SF71H front end

Image

Front brakes at Red Bull (1/2)

Image

RB14 front end

Image

Front brakes at Red Bull (2/2)

Image

A front nose at Force India

Image

Force India front end

Image

The front end at Williams (*not* at the front end of the grid)

Image

Renault stopping power

Image

Renault front end (you know, the bits we never get in a plastic kit and have to pay through the nose to buy aftermarket...)

Image

When you take a picture of Carlos Sainz Jr., you have to make sure to get both his good profiles (it's in his contract).

Image

Toro Rosso front end

Image

Haas are still hoping to make good on their initial showing in Australia...

Image

Slow work day at Sauber...

Image

Nose selection at McLaren

Image

I don't know about you, but the Haas air rig looks to me like a robot having a seizure...

Image

Now the *Renault* air rig looks impressive (with the blinking arrows at the top too!).

Image

The Hulk doesn't seem too impressed with the air rig...

Image

So what's the next step??? Bringing your DESKTOP to take pictures with??????????

Image

Now is grey hard, medium or soft hair??????

Image

The season might well be a write-off for Williams...

Image

Er... Pérez fans????

Image

Now THIS does not make me feel any younger (yes, I was there in 78 and every single year since)!

Image

The podium's ready. How many of *those* autographs do you have?

Image

I found a souvenir!!!!! Can I keep it????????????

Image

A Force India on its way to scrutineering...

Image

...with its accompanying noses.

Image

One last view at Toro Rosso...

Image

The infamous wall awaits the unwary!

And now Friday!

Can you tell there's a Canadian driver on the grid this year?

Image

The t-shirt version of the mascot... I think it looks more like a beaver!

Image

For those who don't know where they are...

Image

The Drone Invasion has begun!!!!

Image

Look for the new show "The Drone Hunters" on Fox this fall!

Image

Hyper-soft toes or Force India fan? You decide!

Image

My point of view (1/2)

Image

My point of view (2/2) (but you saw that coming, didn't you?)

Image

The Iceman cometh out firth... er... first.

Image

If you thought the *halo* was unattractive...

Image

Grosjean at Haas "in the red"

Image

The halo doesn't obstruct the view that much... Alonso recognized me and waved in spite of it!

Image

Sirotkin going out for the first time on a new track (for him).

Image

Magnussen, also "in the red"

Image

Local boy has grandstand named after him and doesn't wave when he first drives past. Film at 11!

Image

"Er, guys? I think I hit a radioactive groundhog!"

Image

No, those are not antennas to improve the broadcast of his remarks on television!

Image

I'm sure Danny Ric is still smiling under his helmet after Monaco!

Image

Just how pink can Ocon get????

Image

I mean... seriously???

Image

Flo-Viz for Max

Image

It's been a long while since he's tasted champagne in F1...

Image

Local boy still doesn't look at his grandstand...

Image

Aww... He blinked just as I was taking the picture!

Image

Bottas going around the Hairpin.

Image

Go, Alonso!!!!!

Image

It'll take me a while to get used to the pink tires...

Image

"Hey! Is that *my* name on that grandstand???"

Image

The Iceman braketh...

Image

"Make way! Bigger budget coming through!"

Image

Ok. It's a lot harder to get his good profiles with his helmet on...

Image

Will Seb get a decent result on a traditionally "Ferrari" track?

Image

Charles Leclerc. I'm starting to like this guy.

Image

And the Sauber is not a bad-looking car!

Image

"Finland, Finland, Finland... The country where I quite want to be..."

Image

McLaren made a very decent showing of FP1!

Image

See? Hamilton took the time to wave.

Image

Quite a long wave, actually.

Image

Local boy Latifi enjoying a first outing on a GP Friday.

Image

His podium here must seem *so* far away...

Image

Gasly coming to grips with a new track for him.

Image

The Hulk let Seb through because of a technical issue.

Image

He coasted for a bit, but a red flag proved inevitable.

Image

He even has a Canadian Maple Leaf on his helmet, positioned for the on-board camera.

Image

I thought I'd have trouble taking pictures of the drivers' head with the halo, but it has proved less intrusive than I thought.

Image

Vandoorne, car no 2, "in the pink".

Image

"Hey! The marshals are waving Canadian flags at me!" "That's a red flag, Lance."

Image

I thought I would miss the blue and yellow livery, but I'm starting to quite like this one.

Image

Daniel, still hoping to avoid any penalties this weekend.

Image

Hamilton fills up my viewfinder!

Image

Ok. So, the red car with purple tires is faster than the pink car with pink tires...

Image

The Iceman cornereth...

Image

The Iceman stareth... at the photographer!

Image

Local boy corners! Film at 11!

Image

Is Sirotkin feeling the pressure to perform (despite the poor chassis)?

Image

Max said he would head-butt anyone asking him another question about his (admittedly numerous) mistakes on-track!

Image

"For Monaco and its Casino!!!"

Image

Mind you, he'd surely do more damage if he head-butted a reporter with his helmet on!

Image

Local boy smokes! Film at 11!

Image

Local boy kisses... a wall!

Image

That tire is DONE!

Image

Sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssmokin'!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image

If you can't find sponsors to cover the bodywork, at least use Flo-Viz!

Image

Will the Honda upgrades produce results?????????

Image

Now what could be so interesting that Max looks off-trajectory????

Image

The purple also goes well with that livery.

Image

Remember when the "flat floors" were...

Image

...you know...

Image

...FLAT????

Image

Brakes glowing for Sirotkin.

Image

Local boy locks...

Image

Just in case you thought Force India had forgotten to unpack Pérez...

Image

Leclerc (16) passes Grosjean (8 - that's twice as much! No wonder he passed him!)

Image

"Locking, locking, locking... keep those tires smoking, BOTTAS!!!!"

Image

"'Traditionally Ferrari track'. Yeah. Right!"

Image

Renault had considerable trouble keeping both cars on the track at the same time. Now it's Sainz who hit a wall (note broken rear wing).

Image

The back end must have taken quite a hit as he wasn't seen on-track again.

Image

Glowing brake discs for Local boy...

Image

He's looking my way, but still no wave...

Image

Glowing brakes for Grosjean as well...

Image

Vandoorne puts a premature end to his day with another wall (those are quite unforgiving here).

Image

The McLaren is parked.

Image

A rather timid wave to the crowd...

Image

The Iceman locketh again!

Image

You can tell the photographer is getting tired by the angle of the camera... ("No! I was trying for an 'art' effect!")

Image

Oddly enough, Magnussen's car was also smoking from the back! Innocent oil overflow or more worrying sign of things to come?

Image

"Hey! That's Jeep! Hi Jeep!!!"

Image

Ok, that's it for Friday. I'm off to bed!

Great pics, thanks Jeep! That's a superb location to take on-track photos, you get such a variety of angles and views, which I can't get at the Australian track (without having to walk around the track everywhere), very jealous! :)
