Yep, still awesome !!!
Sorry to hear about Shapeways mucking around with the cost. Looking forward to seeing it all wrapped up and in the flesh.
Cheers,

Re: Mercedes W08 in 1/12
Ok, i'm in contact with a 3d print supplier- he can print the parts with ABS with smooth surface - not that sandstone surface from shapeways...
Means, no excessive sanding and primer is required.
Estimated price for 3d printing of the parts will be around 400€.
It includes all parts: body, floor, supsension, gearbox, wings, rims and tyres and lots of small parts (camera, winglets, stearing wheel...)
Good idea to make rubber casts of the tyre are welcome.
I will order a print soon.
I must also evaluate the price for the decals incl. the carbon pattern.
PM me, in case someone wants to get the kit too - this helps me to evaluate the batch size for 3d printing and maybe reduce the price a bit..

Mounting points added for suspension, wings and camera.
Found a 3d print company in china, will get a proposal for a print...
Quality looks reasonable:

Re: Mercedes W08 in 1/12
There is a long road to go....
The big parts needs for sucessful printing the wall thickness around 1-2mm -> done!
Mounting points added for all small parts and front supsension.
Mounting points on floor and body designed for easy snap in.
Body and cowl can print as one or as separate parts - depends on the price and print result.
For easy design and mounting of the rear supension, i made the lower cowl arround the gearbox as a separate part.
Body, Floor and lower Cowl arround gearbox area:
Body Parts: Cameras, Wings, Mirror, Monocoque vents
Next step:
- setup of all small parts on a common platform for printing - to prevent lost parts.
- building stl.files and getting a quote...
