McLaren MP 4/8 to MP 4/9
Hi,
I just started this conversion. As well, will not be 100% accurate but, anyway, let's see what I can get since it is my first real big conversion.
I started with the cowling, later I can show the results and just after that I worked on the chassis....hybrid chassis I would say, half Tamiya, Half Styrene....
This shows the result after the combination of pieces and after sanding and putting.
Soon, I will upload more pictures!
Cheers

Looks like a nice start, Badi. The styrene front half of your floor-plate looks nicely made/ symmetrical. Good job. I wonder what kind of glue you used, to make sure it doesn't break in half at some point..?
Cheers, Chris

Just used superglue and internally some minor putty to support.....but in fact, just in the middle you can see I kept the center bar (black) to give support.Eagle50 wrote:Looks like a nice start, Badi. Wow!
That’s some serious reshaping which I have no patience for. Will follow your build with interest.
Lee.

Re: McLaren MP 4/8 to MP 4/9
Well,
long time I don't update this project and a lot has passed...
In the end, I lost my energy after a good start, this project was not exactly what I wanted, but I had no more patience to make all changes and just wanted to finish. So, it is not all right, so far maybe it represents (or not) the car from 1994. I know this car changed during the year with some modifications, but I lost some decals that were very old and it simple cracked. The car, in fact, doesn't represent any GP. It's a a mixture of everything. Lost front wing decals, the front wing is not accurate, as part of body, wrong side for the gas, missing some holes etc etc etc...
Definitely, scratchbuilding is something that is not in my plans in a short term, at least for now, it was hard for me to change the car and try to make it similar to real one, maybe When I gain more experience, who knows... I don't know if I had so much fun making the modifications, but I had good time building it, so it deserves to be finished and go to shelf.
I thought to build that doubled wing from Monaco GP, but I will make it as simple as possible and build the regular one.
Missing the rear wing as some washed in the wings, that will be finished probably next weekend.
