I would like to know how do you design the parts to get the correct shape of the body

In general it is all about the virtual 3d model in any 3d software.
Most of designers use Rhinoceros, but I use AutoCAD 3d. Most of designers use solid 3d models, but I use wireframe 3d model :)...
The unfolding of the skin into 2d is made automatically in Rhinoceros, however, I have to do it manually - just because I don´t want to learn new software. :)
But the principle is the same - to create 3d model and unfold the skin into flat parts. The exact dividing the surface into parts depends on designer, experience, skills, visions, etc.

Hi irb,

What a wonderful paper model of the FW42! The amount of details is very high.

I find the tyres are made especially good for your model. A lot of paper models of F1 cars that I have seen never really achieve the same look of the tyre side wall as yours. Th curve circular surface is not easy to make. You have done a beautiful job on this.

I would hope that you may produce a Mercedes car in the future :)

Even made out of paper, it's probably nearly as fast as the real car...
