ACCURATE REPLACEMENT WHEELS F/ 126C2 & MP4/2C 1/12th
Re: GOOD NEWS,126C2 & MP4/2C FANS at 1/12th
Finally I got to put all the wheels -it's an amazing proof of how lazy I am that I hadn't done before - on my 25 year old build of the 126C2.
Believe it r not, I hadn't replaced the "27" for my own good ones, despite having them since I dn't remember when.
OK, that's how the beast looks with 13" all around and 15" too.
I did a bit of signaling on the tyres, referencing to '82 pics from GPI. The care does not look radically different as ether one of the trains gotta be familiar. But I like the thin sidewall lk of 15" rears and the stubborn lks of 13" fronts.
Also a big kudos for Revell's water color tyre black, and big thanks to fellow member Jacques for discovering it.
It is awesome, one of the best products I found in whole modeling experience: easy to apply with hand brush, water based, sets lghtning fast, strokes disappear, and it applies on resin even wthut cleaning as if it was purpose made primer.
And damn it looks like rubber!!!
here we go, 13":
then 15 inches....
And finally a family picture of them...
Thanks fr loking, best regards
James

Hi James,
As I already said on PM, I love your wheels. They make the 126C2 looks way better. Mine is a 2nd hand MFH that was behind repair. So I decided to try to transform to Pull-rod version, and I can say that it look more right with your wheels than with MFH ones!
Here goes some fast pics of it...
Thanks very much for your work. Do you plan to make some 1/20 version of it?
Best Regards.

Wow!! thanks a lot, sounds so sweet!
What a compliment.
But OMG that pull rod version is so interesting! you come from a S.African version, right? I say because of the "full" sidepods.
Not sure if you plan to leave the body "glued" to the car.
Surely it's nice to see the inside, but once you have one C2 which is openable, why would you need more?
Great job, looking forward to seeing more

Hi James
I thought in try to make the bigger wheelbase version with longitudinal gearbox, but I don't have the needed information and I think this version is better looking.
I still have a Protar one that I already started to convert in this pull-rod front suspension version, but right now I plan to make the 126C2B version with it.... some day!

I start from a Belgium GP version. I don't know what kind of paint/varnish was previously used, but I only was able to take it out with strong paint stripper that attacked the resin! It isn't possible to see in the photos, but the cowl is all irregular, deformed and wrapped. Nothing that I can't correct.JamesB wrote: But OMG that pull rod version is so interesting! you come from a S.African version, right? I say because of the "full" sidepods.
It will be a openable model. There are some differences between both versions (early and latter) in the structure of the chassis, intercoolers, and, of course, front suspension that I will like to show. Ok... I will try!JamesB wrote: Not sure if you plan to leave the body "glued" to the car.

A pre xmas bump for this one. They are available, sell also at Ebay but for you members it'd be a nonsense getting them there
BTW gotta finish a set of the Mac ones with paint and fancy decals so you get more hooked....

Hey boys just a reminder that the combination between 13 inches and 15 inches is available too. Someone pointed me recently that 13 fronts, 15 rears was probably the most frequent combination, and he was damn right! PM for details, thanks!

Hello James
Could you please post some pictures to see the tires combination ? About the MP4/2C the tires in 1986 were the same than in 1992 ? Right ?

Answers are YES and YES, mon ami!
Yes same sizes and yes, I'll try in a while to post pics with 13F, 15R and 15F, 13R
