Mercedes new steering approach

Post by racingkars »

I am looking at the F1 wintertests right now.

Mercedes seems to have a new approach on the steering wheel.
Lewis moves the steering wheel from him or pulls it to him.
It adds a steering mode.
Looks like it affects camber.
A Mercedes guy told it's not just for testing.

Will it be legal?

I was at testing yesterday (day 1) and Hamilton was the only person we saw that locked up and ran wide into turn 1. Maybe the new system takes some time to get used to how it works.

I think Mercedes has taken this new system to FIA for approval and it would be strange if FIA did not approve with it....and build in the car... hoping it would stay unseen....
Tyrone, what system would Red bull have, because verstappen was the only one spinning twice at the same corner..... :? :? :?

Happy to see that they have some controversial options on the car. My biggest annoyance as a red bull fan is that for years they have been dominant but there hasn't been any real controversy about items on the car.

They can go to the FIA to get approval for this, but its still something that the stewards in Australia need to approve of after the race.

Great job, but in my opinion a active control system, the distance to the lane are variable.

It is! But as I said, its annoying as a Red bull fan to hear for years how your car is illegal when it isn't, and then Merc dominates for 7 years and no one says a thing about legality of anything they do.

I love innovation, I love seeing inventiveness and ingenuity...
I have always said this... BUT... had Ferrari come up with this
very clever idea, all hell would've broken loose and the FiA
would've stormed into the pit and impounded the cars until a
full investigation had been held to verify legality of this very
iffy contraption... but it's not Ferrari - so that's OK then
