I'm wondering if we're going to get in a situation like football where players contracts are bought out to move teams in the future. Reminds me a bit of the 6 year contract Button signed in 2000 with Williams and how he had to personally buy himself out of his contract with Williams to stay with BAR.

It may alway happen, and indeed has. Smart move for both. Max gets security, team also. But surely the contract might be bought if necessary. In fact I guess situation won't change that much for 2021

He had a contract for this year that was voided if Red Bull F1 did not meet certain targets in 2019, I’m sure this new three year contract has similar items. I imagine Jos will have the limits in mind while watching the races this year.
