Comcast Bids on Sky.... and....
So... it looks like the US mega media corp Comcast had bid on Sky... https://www.bbc.com/news/business-45615441 outbidding Fox. So... Comcast, which owns NBC and thus the NBC Sports Network, lost out on Formula 1 coverage in the USA this year, may end up owning Sky which does the F1 coverage in the UK. ESPN, which got the US broadcast of F1 and uses the Sky feed (rumored for basically nothing), is owned by the ABC / Disney mega media corp, a competitor to Comcast/NBC.
So WTH is gonna happen to F1 coverage in the US next year?
Geez...

All I know is that if I have to pay extra for it, it ain't happening. I have no great love for Disney or Comcast. I yearn for the good old days when, as a Michigander, I watched BBC coverage on CBC which came from Windsor, Ontario. Obviously, this is a far different world these days!

I do not know how cable companies operate in USA, but overhere (UKI) they are dreadful.
Sky is one of the worst companies, with terrible channel choices, high prices and poor customer service.
I would say, you are better of if you do not have F1 on TV and can buy it directly from Formula1.com.
I just cancelled my Sky subscription (bye bye F1 ) after they increased my bill by 30% without telling me.

I guess if you have Comcast you’d have F1 coverage. And if it goes back to NBC for network coverage does this mean Hobbs and friends are back?!

Just a few minutes ago my wife told me our Comcast cable/internet/phone bill went up about $20 this month with no explanation...

Here in F-land, where Icebears ( Beers? ) and Penguines walk the Street, We have enjoyed F1 on Pay-tv for 10 long Yesrs. Recently some Years ago the Company raised the Fee for a Month to 30€ by creating a Sport Channel Package which contains the Channel for F1 and You can't rent that Channel from any other Service of the Company.Luckily It has been so that the Grand Prix has been on air next Day ( Monday ) completely on free Channel for some Years now.

Re: Comcast Bids on Sky.... and....
It won't affect the US at least for a while. The contracts are still between Disney and FOM for F1 rights so Comcast possibly owning Sky won't cause that to change. This is assuming they signed a multi year agreement.
