Re: MP4/6 Yet another technique for that wrinkled carbon eff
Another tape to try is the 3M Micropore paper medical tape. Depending on how you coat it you can create different textures.

Re: PLASTIC Upcoming F1 Releases 2020
Supposedly it will be available mid May (so about now). Hobby Search hast listed it at just over 14.000 yen (~120€). Funny, the old Tamiya kit used to run for about half that in another millennium. Even funnier(?), is that when Tamiya first launched their 1/12 scale kits you could buy them for ~$10...

Re: McLaren MP4/6: Gearbox & Oil Tank - Top Studio.
Dr_gn: Yes, but I have to reiterate that they primary issue is engine breathing, the catch tank Is mitigation of a side effect. The pistons going up and down and the lubrication scavenge pumps and g forces have a dynamic impact on crankcase pressure that has to be managed somehow. In this case an ext...

Re: McLaren MP4/6: Gearbox & Oil Tank - Top Studio.
dr_gn: Extra vent tanks are not unusual. The function of preventing liquids from venting to atmosphere is required whether you have a visible separate catch tank or not. Sometimes this can be managed within the oil tank design itself. Depends on engine and oil system design. Now that you mention it,...

Re: McLaren MP4/6: Gearbox & Oil Tank - Top Studio.
dr_gn: You are correct, the smaller tank in the photo(right side of photo) from Andrey is the engine oil overflow/breather tank. The engine lubrication system has to be able breath. The atmosphere in the crankcase and the dry sump system will have air, combustion bypass material and oil suspended in...

Re: McLaren MP4/6: Gearbox & Oil Tank - Top Studio.
I have found that understanding why something is the way it is highly related to the function of the device. While it has been described here as an oil tank, considering its function may shed light on why it presents itself as it does. Thoughts?

Re: Did the 1976 cars all have the same diameter front wheel
I would “think“ a bigger wheel could have a bigger diameter tire. Reason is that Firestone had an issue in early 70’s like 71(I think) when they went to lower profile on fronts. Drivers were experiencing excessive tire vibration. It may have been linked to wider rear tires as well. As we know today,...

Re: Did the 1976 cars all have the same diameter front wheel
I agree with all fellows' very sound contributions. just disagree a bit with smbrm1 regarding outer tyre size rule limits. I remember having seen those, though generally they were overlooked till early 2000. So I'll just add that tyres grew clearly between '75 and '76. Tamiya has a smaller front go...

Re: Did the 1976 cars all have the same diameter front wheel
I agree, it was my understanding that 13” wheels( with the exception of Tyrrell 6 wheeler fronts)were standard(at least for the rear) for quite some time, like from standardization in the early 70’s until when the new 18” wheel rule comes into play. My previous note was just what I read. I do recall...

Re: Did the 1976 cars all have the same diameter front wheel
There is a reference in Scale Models (MAP hobby magazine) February 1975 AVS Shadow DN3 article(page 82-85)which says: “The wheels are fabricated magnesium, 13 in. diameter by 11 in. at front, 13x17 in. at rear. Alternative sized front wheels, 12 in.x10 in. were fitted when the newest sized low profi...
