Re: Zero Paint etching plastic

Thanks everyone! Looks like the primmer is the real issue then not truly protecting the plastic. Course as mentioned some light coats are needed with the paint. Just knowing there is a high potential for etching tells me we need to look into a different primmer to ensure that dosen't happen again. J...

Zero Paint etching plastic

Hello everyone, Question about Zero paint and what may cause etching of the plastic. Asking for a friend that used Tamiya primmer then sprayed the Zero paint. Sorry don't have a lot of other specifics to add other than this is the first time that Zero paint has been tried. Per the web site Tamiya pr...

Re: What the *Beep* am I doing wrong here

I hear your frustration. We think we do all that is needed to properly prepare parts for paint. Have to agree with most of the replies. This is a issue with the surface prep where the paint/primer reacts the way it is. Westleys Blech-Wite Tire Cleaner is used by many to soak and clean resin parts. T...

Re: Alclad paints!!!!

Have to add that if you haven't used this paint before > test it on some plastic spoons to get a feel for how it works. As mentioned to get a gloss/shinny end look the under coat has to be gloss. Example Chrome will not come out Chrome if the base coat is dull. Handle the parts as little as possible...

Re: Scale Motorsport shutting down after 20 years

Sorry don't mean to question this but where was this announcement made? Checked the web site and nothing is mentioned there. I've been using SMS products for a very long time...guess I am wishing that the news is not true. If indeed this is true Mathew all the best to you and thanks for supplying so...

Re: Wondering....

Interesting thread indeed... Hard to say what the consumer will have available in the near future. But seeing stores close like KMart, and JCPenneys, and Sears, times they are a changin Now we have self checkouts (cashiers will soon be gone). Amazon is thriving. Then things like CD's are gone heck C...

Re: Macs Modeling closing

Hello Kars I too got a note from Mac. News does not surprise me as MAC has been in a downward spiral for well over a year. Bothers me to see he said he is setting a auto reply on emails. Anyone with a pending order will not have a easy time in getting a reply. Just glad I don't have a pending order....

Re: Painting "FORD" on DFV

The way I have learned is called a reverse wash. 1 paint the part silver or color of lettering 2 Be sure to use a solvent based paint 3 Using acrylic paint> paint the part black 4 With a cotton bud dip in acrylic thinner> Unload most of the thinner into a paper towel 5 gently remove the black paint ...

Nice comparison didn't realize the difference till now! And Ya I am with ya on the replacement of the fin.
Strange they made it so thick. Would have been nice to have a separate part that is a closer match to the scale size.

Re: WIP: Mercedes W08 US GP 2017 Hamilton

IF you didn't replace the fin you could try and taper the edges to give a thinner appearance.
Pictures you have seem like the fin is too thick to even try that. But thought I would throw that idea out there.
Might be worth a try???
