Nice work James and congratulations! It would have been nice to give the models more space to better appreciate them but maybe that was just not possible. The resin wheels may have come from Brian Fawcett who did the internal correction kit as well.
Years ago there were also resin wheels/rims available from a company named Antares.

I don't use a blow dryer at all. It may blow the decals away as you describe and it tends to evaporate the softener before it can work on the decal.
Instead I use a halogen desk lamp for heat after applying the softener.
