Re: 1993 Mclaren MP4/8 - European GP
Thank you. I’ve not had luck in the past but this time I’ve been very happy with the outcome. Can’t wait to get the decals on.CaptainMark wrote:Excellent work in the masking and paint job, masking for a top coat can be a tricky sob sometimes, always feels super awesome when it comes out spot on!

THANKS!daveyman wrote:That looks super sharp, unless you've hidden any errors with clever photography I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Re: 1993 Mclaren MP4/8 - European GP
I'm afraid I've never found a decent way to clean up runs/creep under masking tape. I focus on getting the masking spot on to avoid the problem as much as possible. I did the same and before the orange coat went on I sprayed the tape edges with pure white to help “seal” the tape. Well the part I wa...

Re: 1993 Mclaren MP4/8 - European GP
Yeah I always remove the tape immediately, I never like leaving tape on any longer than necessary. When you remove the tape along the edge of the red do so very carefully and slowly, don't just tear it off. Well I guess I will be tackling this when I get home this evening. What do you do if there a...

Thank you. I don’t know. Am I doing something wrong?Hein wrote:Very good! looking forward to the rest of your build.
Why do you wait with pulling off the masking tape? I always remove it directly after painting, never had problems with that.
Cheers!

Re: 1993 Mclaren MP4/8 - European GP
Went ahead and laid the combo of TS-36 and TS-39 this evening. I think it turned out pretty good for a spray can. We will see when I pull the tape in a day or two. I’m crossing my fingers I did not have any runs. https://i.imgur.com/357Aqnx.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eUyNaNz.jpg In the meantime I start...

Re: 1993 Mclaren MP4/8 - European GP
So made a little progress on this over the past few days. Messed around with the engine a bit more, but mostly been working on the body. Primed, sanded, and laid the pure white. Let it sit for a few days and today I started to do some masking for the red/orange. Something that has been debated endle...
