Re: Leyton House CG 901B

My first guess was indeed Airborne. I remember Marco and Arno developing their special boat, we called it 'zweefpraam'. They were extremely secretive and reclusive, totaly outside the 'culture' that I described above, making them fairly unpopular. They were joined by Michel and formed Airborne in 19...

Re: Leyton House CG 901B

And I forgot about the Leyton House tub. I was quite excited when it arrived, but I was one of the few. Many shrugged their shoulders. I barely fit in it, but it gave me a whole different view on F1 racing: such a tiny tub, so close to the ground, doing 300 km/h, oh dear.. And the lack of damage, de...

Re: Leyton House CG 901B

Yes, the 'vliegtuighal' (aircraft hangar), I spent many years there. It used to be a very special place to do your graduate work, and the main ingredient was the 'coffee table' .. seriously! It was the centerpiece of the lab, where students and staff spent many hours. What we did not realise is that...

Re: Leyton House CG 901B

Hi Rob, If you mean at TU Delft the tub is still there. I was at the lab for work frequently. (Off topic i know). 8) Hein Yep, that's the one! But I do not recognise the exact location. Possibly the composites lab? As I remember it, professor Beukers arranged through his contacts with Henny Vollenb...

https://www.ipmsniagarafrontier.com/images/LeytonHouse/20201202_151803.jpg Beuatiful work for sure! One comment: the interior carbon fiber is matt / flat, like a blackboard, due to the manufacturing process. I sat many times in the CG891 monocoque that Maurício Gugelmin flipped at the start of the ...

Re: Cutting thin sheet metal (0.1-0.3mm)

Not an answer to your question, but did you consider having the parts photo-etched? You can quite easily incorporate folding lines and rivet holes. I've long wanted to do a Porsche 956 / 962 tub this way. I made a aprtial 3D CAD model years ago. https://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/models/images/956-05.j...

Re: lemans miniatures jaguar xjr14 1/24 SCALE

Looks a bit like a B2 canopy, nice job! It's for a resin 1/72 A-12 Avenger (A-6 Intruder successor, cancelled) by Anigrand. Here's it sleeping in its box between my building spurts. https://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/models/images/avenger-36.jpg The vacforming was done with the cheap Chinese vacformer...

Re: lemans miniatures jaguar xjr14 1/24 SCALE

I use(d) 0.5 and 1.0 mm Vivak, and I do not remember a significant difference between them, steam-bubble wise..

Re: lemans miniatures jaguar xjr14 1/24 SCALE

Bubbles are very well possible in the vacuum forming process - they are steam bubbles actually. I've used PETG / Vivak that easily develops steam bubbles. Here are two canopies, one with and one without steam bubbles. https://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/models/images/avenger-32.jpg https://robdebie.home...

Er... again I suggest you to test to mix a small amount. Chances after 3 years are 99,99% they re useless, so...
I once had a set of SmoothCast 305 that still worked fine four years after opening! But I also had a set that lasted half a year.
