Re: rumour: tamiya will be re-issuing the 1/12...

These have always been expensive, they also have a lot of real metal parts, I would expect the Caterham to sell at a substantial premium over an all plastic 1/12 kit. At the same time I generally try to never pay retail price for a model. So I would wait until I can find one for half or 2/3 of retai...

Re: MFH, timing, and the cryptocurrency bubble.

If I knew when the dice role would turn up 7s I would just go to Vegas. I have been watching bitcoin for some time, it’s cost is totally out of proportion to what it’s intended for and does not make sense. The number of people that own most bitcoins is about 1,000.00 so this is trading a on A very n...

Re: Ordering directly from MFH

I am in the US but I have looked at the MFH site and even though we don't have VAT and I sometimes order model stuff from Asia, I cannot find any advantage to ordering direct from MFH. It looks like his online prices are essentially what full retail price is supposed to be so I usually find if I hun...

Re: PLASTIC Upcoming F1 Releases 2017

I see that Fujimi is releasing an all new 1/24 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR Turbo in Martini markings. I really like the 1970's Porsches and from what hobby search is showing it is an all new kit and more detailed from what I can see than the Tamiya 934 that came out a year or so ago. According to Hobby ...

Re: what kind of bidder are you anyway?

Many of us keep a "stash" of models. I view eBay as my personal "stash" in that when I want something I get it, but that also means I will defer buying also as I know with most things I can get it eventually or when I actually have a use for the kit. I have let some fabulous deal...

Re: Read The Gauges Detail/Do you remember?

I believe raised gage detail was standard on nearly all domestic US car kits. Simple reason, gage decals were unheard of. Of course lots of these kits are still in production after 40 or 50 years so if you are into 1/24 Muscle Cars it is pretty easy to find.

Re: Anyone else have this problem with his MFH 1/12 917???

I am working on the same car. I ignored the problem with the shroud initially and focused on getting the intakes in a straight line. To do this I worked on one bank at a time and I used the intake manifold to align the intakes. Then I epoxied everything and clamped the heads and the pistons tightly ...

Re: White metal

I have started my first MFH kit. There is a good thread on this site about soldering white metal and I followed much of the advice from that. However, some of the parts are best served with epoxy. I have been using a product available in the US called JB Weld. The cure time is really slow but the bo...

Re: Painting MFH resin parts

I will buy some tomorrow. Thanks very much. Do you leave it on for any particular length of time or just spray on and wash off?
