Is there any precedent for Tamiya ever upgrading one of their 1/12 F1 kits? I can't recall an example (apart from perhaps better decals) but I could be mistaken.

I'm assuming this kit hasn't been released in the US judging by the eBay listings I've seen which are all from Europe. Are there plans to roll it out in the US at some point?

Please forgive me if the answer was obvious but why was it necessary to create this hybrid? I'm assuming it was to create a specific version of the car.
