Re: 1971 Tyrrell F1 at montjuich

Arghhhh...following on from my previous message on Panamnut's WIP I want to build the 312b from the same race and I've just realised it has the same dreaded sticker?! Did you find any more info on the yellow symbol? :? Here it is on the Ferrari: http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb224/cinqster-phot...

Re: 12th. 312b WIP

The assembled model look great - it's inspired me to dig mine out of the stash in the attic today! I'd forgotten just how far I'd proceeded on mine years ago as the body halves are already joined. I think my problem was that the two parts curved in too much on the join line so I thought I'd ...

Re: How do you clean your files?

A decent silversmith will clean their files tooth by tooth with the point of a scapel blade! A tip for metalworking files (large ones at least), is to leave them out in the rain. The resultant rust will lift of debris and the files will self sharpen - the iron oxide atoms increase the file 'tooth'. ...

Re: 12th. 312b WIP

Thanks for the info Ed, I'll have a look at the websites today. I'm hoping postage shouldn't be an issue from America as the cutters are so small. I for one am enjoying the thread - I love seeing how other modellers tackle these famous old 1/12th kits. I think the lack of enthusiasm may just be the ...

Re: 12th. 312b WIP

Looking great so far.

Can I ask you who you get your small milling cutters from please?
I'm having real problems trying to find a reliable supplier in the UK!

Re: Cable ties in 1/12

I use the white plastic from ordinary grocery bags stuck down onto 1" double sided tape. Cut the laminated material into thin (.75mm) strips, peel the backing off and away you go. Very good scale appearance and thickness + the adhesive will hold wires together. A spot of cyano will hold it in p...

Re: Silver paint for a porsche

Hi Rob, Did some research on this when I painted my full-size Porsche RSK replica. Not sure about the Zero colour but even Stuttgart HQ don't have the original code recorded. Porsche (UK) restored a 550 a few years back and couldn't make a suitable mix to match the original. They ended up using Merc...

Re: 12th. 312b WIP

"Very nice work! Are you going to narrow the kit tyres?" Thanks ! I've not gotten to that point yet, though it's not too likely. Do you have dimensions I should consider? Cheers, -elh- LOL! Can't remember how I got to the figure as it was a long time ago but if I recall the both the front...
