Re: Whitening-up Yellowed Decals

An ultra violet lamp will work as well. However, neither source is a guaranteed solution.

Re: Paint reaction problems

Well, once again a poster has been mixing paint technology where he might have made better choices. Zero paints are automotive acrylic enamels while the Tamiya TS paints are synthetic lacquers. There is areal possibility that the lacquer has interacted with the primer. My suggestion would be to stri...

Re: 1963 Lotus 29, Dan Gurney

I could be worng, but I do believe the Lotus's wore Dunlop tires in '63 and '64. As I remember, Clark would have made a fool out of the rest of the field if the Dunlops hadn't started chunking. Both Clark's and Gurney's rides were so plagued.

Re: Clear coat defects.

I know nothing about Prisma's chemistry, is it lacquer, acrylic, enamel or resin based? Regardless of what it is, you will have to WET sand the surface with Micromesh abrasive cloths starting with 2400-3600 grit upwards to 6-8000 grit to remove the bubble wrap marks; then recoat with a suitable topc...

Re: Zero McLaren Red vs Fluoro Red

Zero paints are automotive acrylic lacquers and are known as "solvent finishes;" one that can slightly disslove/melt into the cured lacquer finish that it coats. Enamels are "reactive finishes;" ones that once dry, the thinners for enamel will not soften or dissolve. You may ther...

Re: Help needed: polishing

You need to level the finish by wet sanding it starting @3600 grit up to 10-12000 grit using Micromesh finishing "papers." Use distilled water for this process and DON"T skip paper grits. Follow up with a thorough wiping with a dry paper towel and then use the polishing compound. Buff...

It can be used over anything. It's an acrylic itself.

Re: Pocher .......resurection?

Whatever Pocher intendes to do, I hope they re-engineer their kits sufficiently so that the parts at least assemble together in a reasonable manner. Having built four of them, I can attest that they assemble no better than some of the worst of the Italian multi-media kits. If Pocher just re-releases...

Re: Ferrari look set to appeal Vettel's Win

Perhaps you will better understand Alonso's motives for the protest when you learn that he had a $10M USD incentive from his team for winning the driver's championship title. Ferrari would also benefit from a larger payout via the Concord agreement when the payoffs are made by advancing in position ...

Re: Zero paint issues/questions

Tamiya acrylic thinner is NOT going to solve your problem. Zero paints are automotive two-part acrylic enamels and are NOT the same chemistry as Tamiya acrylics. You were advised in an earlier post to try automotive thinners, and I'm not sure of your reluctance to do so. If I were faced with this an...
