Re: 1/12 Protar Ferrari 126C2
Hello again The Protar kit as many flaws and qualities. It is possible to improve on some of the issues, but I don't think it is absolutely necessary to over analyse the thing. You may risk loosing interest if you aim for a near perfect replica. The kit decals are a fair representation of the San Ma...

Re: 1/12 Protar Ferrari 126C2
Hi
The anodized blue suspension plates seems to be a one shot thing during the Brazillian GP.
Did no see any other occasion later during the season. It is a nice colorful detail to add.
Cheers

Re: 1/12 Protar Ferrari 126C2
The 126 C2 is the favorite subject of our friend Marcus (another Gilles Villeneuve fan like me), we had the chance to work together on this chapter of the "spotter's guide" series. I hope tou won't be to too distracted by the differences between the kit and the actual car. The Protar kit i...

Re: 1/12 Protar Ferrari 126C2
Hi
I've built one not too long ago and was pleasently surprised, this kit is quite easy to build.
Of course it is a tooling from the 80's, but with some TLC it will turn out great.
I will be curious to see those clear brake ducts, are they front and rear? (guess I should search on Shapeways!)
Cheers

Re: Vacuum formed windshield cutting
Hi If the top edge is a straight line, I usuallly take a sanding stick and sand the edge until it cuts clean. vac1.jpg This is a 1/43 scale Ferrari screen. I make sure that the top edge is perfectly clean and polished before trimming to lower part. vac3.jpg A piece of double side tape holds the wind...

Re: 312T4 replacement decals
Thanks everyone
Hunting for the reissued Tamiya sheet is probably the best idea.
I know that those were made by Cartograf and that is always a sign of quality.
I' ll get in touch with my local distributor first to see what they can do.
Cheers!

312T4 replacement decals
Hi everyone. I'm working on another T4 for a client and decals needed replacement. Ordered from Ebay a few sheets of Chinese made decals. Just received them and the verdict is not that good. T4-test-decal.jpg White ink is not saturated enough and resulting surface is not smooth, Even with double lay...

Re: Tamiya tires gone bad
Hi everyone. Just a quick note to say that I've received my two sets of replacement tires from our Canadian distributor. Got great service from them and price was reasonable (about $15 per set). It is good to know that parts are still available from the manufacturer for those classic kits. Maybe I'l...

Re: Tamiya 312T4's
Congrats for this lovely set of T4's. Glad that my spotter's guide as helped you. It is nice to have some practical information about the Spaz Stix application. I'm not surprised to read that it can be tricky to apply, most chrome paints are. Seeing the nice and even sheen on the wings, I will give ...

Re: MFH 1/12 July release.
It is a bit odd that MFH did all this work to create the B version (revised monocoque, sidepod panels, rear suspension, etc..) but did not consider doing rain tires to do a Canadian Gp version. Most of us old timers remember very well that race! Unlike that Dutch GP who did nothing for the F1 histor...
