Re: 1/12 Tamiya Williams FW14B

Finished the air box and fuel rails. Used the TVF1 machined trumpets and photoetch butterfly valves with associated top straps. I have a medical condition called "Fat Fingers" which explains why the top straps are not perpendicular in each case. With the CA glue, if you don't get it right ...

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Williams FW14B

Happy New Year! Even though it's a New Year, the government is telling me to stay home. Don't know why my cable provider thinks it's a good idea to run "The Shining" 12 times in a row. Really..... cabin fever is fun!!! I've got some more work done, a couple steps closer to completion...

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Williams FW14B

ChinaMalc: Thanks for the pictures, they help a lot. When I was younger I used to work in the Labatt's bottling plant here. Fun Jobs to have when you're 18. :D I've finished the rear discs for the kit. Had to cut off the mounting pins on the back of the rear rims and then drill them to accept the TV...

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Williams FW14B

Looking good so far. As an aside, Williams did not use red wheel nuts, they used blue on the right hand side and grey on the left hand side. M. The AlClad nuts I got from Thunder Valley with the kit are 3 red ones, and 1 blue one. The TVF1 Brake kit comes with 4 aluminum ones. I have a couple of op...

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Williams FW14B

Started to drill out the rims to fit the spindles and discs for the TVF1 Brake kit. Front of the rim gets drilled 0.156" and countersunk to fit the threaded spindle and nut. Back of the rim is drilled 0.220" so the cone on the brake hat fits into the back of the rim. Next step is to drill ...

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Williams FW14B

Life keeps sticking it's nose in and screwing up my modelling time. I did end up with a new compressor for painting and a pin vise for drilling the bolt holes into the brake hats. The pin vise and a set of drill bits to give me the size I needed came from Lee Valley Tools. I love the place, but are ...

Re: 1/12 Tamiya Williams FW14B

Years ago I ordered the Thunder Valley F1 Perfect Parts FW14B Brake kit. I got most of it. What I didn't get was the two rotors for the rear brakes. A large number of e-mails, a couple of phone calls when he still had a phone for TVF1, and still no rotors. What I did as you can see, is cut the brake...
