Well, it looks like it might be possible to migrate the Forums from the classic F1M web site over to the new site.
Its a little messy, but involves updating the phpBB2 Post-Nuke module into a full version of phpBB3, which is new, and then using a phpBB-Drupal bridge to link the two programs. I had intended to move the Forums into Drupal itself, but this might actually be easier and someone has actually managed to do so successfully. It should even move the attachments.
What I may do is try to test it in the next week or two. I will have to disable the Classic Forum for a little bit and may ask everyone to test out the new Forum by posting non-vital posts, private messages, and attachments. This will be really important - if the new Forum is not tested really well and there is a problem, there will be no way to move any important info back to the old Forum. The update will not affect the old Forum, so if we spot a problem early we can always go back, but if we miss something and it blows up a couple weeks down the road... well, that would be really bad.
I will let folks know when I plan on doing the test.
