On a fb page there is a 4/2c conversion from Sean Carter Automotive Model Arts that is worth seeing. He also describes many of the kit's faults. For the brakes he uses the top studio mp4/6 brake set and the brake calipers from the MFH 4/4. He also describes the mirrored turbos and a lot of other things. It's a long project and is slowly coming to an end. I'm enthusiastic about his conversions and for me the best 4/2c I've seen so far. Check it out if you're on Facebook, there's plenty on offer for inspiration alone. If the link is not allowed I will delete it immediately.

Hi Jaykay, thanks for the info. I was told that the kit rims are incorrect. You should have too much or too little spokes. I haven't been able to control it myself, but that's sorted out now.

Decals are ready to print it for the kits.
I attached some pictures
I just made some smaller adjustments in last days.

But I think I don't need to rush, because I will need still some time to print all the bigger parts.
All small parts are printed - today I started with the floors! Hi Thomas
Great !
Please, count me as interested when available !
Bye
Gilles

Thanks Eric! That´s quite elaborated and useful information.
So my temptation to use the half TB USB is quite risky, thanks for telling. So far I had not had great problems with USB drives but it seems that you cannot fit a battleship power into a canoe size without some trouble.
Yes, thanks I have a nice SSD. I´ll rely on that.
Anyway the thing is about something that is readable from an Iphone. Maybe the online storage from the iphone is an idea too.
Big thanks, Dr. E!

I generally don't rely on small USB flash drives as they are notoriously unreliable. I do have an SSD based USB drive that I use to move large files from one computer to another as its faster than Wifi.

Like this one >> https://www.westerndigital.com/products ... 00ABL-WESN

I do not store any important files on these drives though... I have a Synology NAS drive to store files and as a second backup for my Mac >> https://www.synology.com/en-us/products/DS418. These are fault tolerant - if a single drive fails, it can be replaced with no data loss.

I also have an online backup through Backblaze.

I really have the hope that the always thanked and wise answers the f1m people gives to these boomer questions about computers are not just useful for me but also some more
Anyway here we go.
You will know the difficulties to make a match between a Win PC and an iPhone. Harder than seating two in-laws together at the Xmas family dinner
OK, I bought a flash drive relatively smooth working, but the other day it fell to the ground (you know carpets are not popular in Spain) from seated knee heigth, and next thing is it worked no more.
I bought a new one. Great, half a TB capacity, fast, frindly software...
But it has endured 48 hours.
Not sure it was a flaw, maybe unproper early unplugging... but it resulted in lots of folders named with ascii characters, and no longer recognizable from the iPhone.
Fortunately at least the files were still there and were readable from the PC.
Once that done, I thought returning it to Amazon, but... what if that´s a trick to steal valuable data?
I formatted it and now doubt between still returning it or keeping it as a 0.5 TB USB and look for a new, different one.
Here comes the question:

Do you know of a trustable, good one you have tried successfully?
Thanks in advance!!

I'll be picking this kit up as well as the 1/12 Lotus 99T. My Tokyo trip made it clear that car modeling isn't in as good of shape as it was a few years ago, and supporting new/rerelease models which come out is important.Hmm!! I might have a nice ecuse to purchase one!!
Yes, that´s right. And lucky you with a Tokyo trip anyway Did you manage to visit any "sorcerer´s cave" shop with cool stuff?

I'm assuming this kit hasn't been released in the US judging by the eBay listings I've seen which are all from Europe. Are there plans to roll it out in the US at some point?Yes, MRC has the distribution rights. Should be end of June. I am getting mine from Mac Modeling.

Hi Martin I wouldn't worry too much about these wheels. They are not realistic. The real ones are not polished/shiny. They are/were painted, so if you paint the kit parts with Alclad you should be good.

Well, I certainly know of someone with a buck to vacuform a new windscreen to back date the car from a C to a B. And the bodywork to show how it’s done!
Also a major difference between the C and the B is the C had mirrored turbos. One of the turbos, I can’t remember which off the top of my head, has to be copied and then used as the two turbos were the same in a B.
Another challenge is the seat as Barnard unbalanced the right side to accommodate the repositioned shifter. The only thing I could come up with was starting over with a Lotus 78 seat. Someone with James talent could rebuild the right side of the seat to mirror the left side.

Paul ErlendsonOh Paul! and I certainly know of someone with enough talent to make that buck and then generous enough to donate it to a friend! I count on it too!
Interesting detail about the turbos, I had not noticed, and the solution you suggest is really good. Didn´t know either about the seat, will have a look.
I plan to make a nice figure too.

Wanted • Looking for alloy wheels

F1M Forums - Mon, 05/22/2023 - 20:36
Hello fellow model builders. I am looking for alloy wheels for the Tamiya 1:20 Ferrari F1-2001. They are available in silver and gold from Perfect Parts. I prefer the silver version but wouldn't say no to the gold either. Maybe someone else has them at home and doesn't need them. I would be happy about a contact.
Greetings Martin

At Macs modeling, the aluminum rims for the Mclaren mp4/6 are in stock. You have to scroll down a bit. Mac is a great guy. For me he made an extra set for the 14b in 2022.

F1M Forums - Mon, 05/22/2023 - 16:16
Upnorth - the Rossi ‘09 in particular has been getting good money for a while now I believe.

I have re-priced mine having looked at eBay, would be happy to go down slightly further assuming the buyer would be looking to build rather than sell on / stash.

Have also the Rossi figure & front suspension setup in-case that makes it more interesting for someone to swap? WRT what I am looking for, well maybe not the best site but non-F1. Le-Man’s, WRC, road. Nothing run of the mill subject. Maybe aircraft.
