Finally some photos of my year long project, the first F1 model I've done. I think I bit more than I could chew, trying to make a detailed replica of the 1966 Mexico GP Ginther car. The result has lots of added detail, but the finish isn't too great. Well, I learned a lot during the process and I believe my next project will look cleaner...
You can see the orangepeel paint finish here. I vacformed the windscreen myself, added photoetch dzus fasteners & a couple of rivets. The Honda badge has been placed over a bit of Bare Metal foil. A bit of blackened masking tape was used for the little belt over the air scoop. The tires are padded, but I blew it and now they look all concave...

I used the fire extinquisher from the kit, with self made fasteners. The air scoops on both sides of the protective bar required heavy thinning. The velocity stack covers I bent from metal mesh, it was surprisingly easy.

Added some oil pipes, brake calipers and pipes. The caliper and pipe you see here don't quite meet! Changed the oil radiator a bit, and added plastic piping around it. The oil radiator setup varied from race to race. Maybe it hadn't got that downward scoop in Mexico, but I'm not sure. Notice that the left side race number has no white lining around it, that only goes to the right side.

Scratch built white air pipe, and the little breather pipe.

Added the white oil pipes, and the pump-like thingy.

Cockpit, not too proud of this one. Used foil & photoetched screw heads for the steering wheel instead of the photoetched glue-on bit that came with the kit.
