Created a new floor from .003 inch brass sheet. Looks a little bit better I think :) The gaps are smaller and the rivets are a bit more tidy. I also sanded the surface this time, so the primer will stick better later.

Made some fill-ins with rivet detail today, and some details on the dashboard bridge.
Made some plastic templates first and glued them to the brass sheet

Sprayed some primer to create an outline

Now it's easier to cut out the right form in brass.. wish I thought of this when I was doing the floor, would have saved me a headache

Punched some rivet detail in from the back, cut out and glued to the model. Looking at the pictures, they may need a little adjusting, but a little filling between the new panels and the dashboard bridge to smooth the gap out was foreseen ;)

Hi MVC,

I stumbled across your WIP just now and your correction work is looking very promising. I like the precise skills you have displayed with both sheet styrene and brass sheet.
We don't often get to enjoy a 1:12 MS11 WIP, so I will be keeping a keen eye out for your next update.

Great work so far.

Cheers, Paul

Fantastic work. What resources did you use to set the formers inside the fuel cells?

Here is a little more proof as to how well you nailed it. From the Zul Racing restoration:

Thanks guys..

@Nigel: the pictures I used are actually the same as you posted (http://www.zul-racing.com/projects/matra-ms11/), but these last few, of the bare chassis are new to me. Thanks for posting, these can still be very helpful!

Carrying on.. added some more detail. Really looking forward to seeing the whole thing in French racing blue!
Decided that the previously modified bridge had to go..

Today's result.. looks a bit flimsy, but the top will eventually be covered, so it will look like a sturdy bridge

A little more metal work after a short break.

I have seen enough fake rivets for a day or two :|

Not sure if I'm going to keep the rivets along the seat, it's quite hard to get that curve exactly right. The gaps need to be filled, but sanding the filler will be almost impossible... Any suggestions are welcome!

This is so far beyond what was intended (or, indeed, possible) when this kit was produced! It is a marvelous thing to watch you bring this up to such a standard. Bravo!

looks amazing
a couple..few?..years ago Indycal's Micheal built a Matra. About half way through, He had this great looking roller. Just a chassis on wheels. I loved it that way! I found the Zul-racing sight and decided to build a clean chassis. Didn't take it nearly as far as this. Never got past the blue paint. It's a tube with a seat. Figured I'd drop the engine into some other project..like a drag boat

Look forward to seeing someone take this to a higher level
