I agree that most of the pictures show the car in that very dark blue/almost black colour. The Zero paints Rob Walker Blue is also the dark shade of blue. Maybe Ebbro got it wrong..??AndyPerry wrote:I don't know, but every "modern" photo I've seen of various Rob Walker cars (museum cars, etv.) all show them to be quite dark blue, so I really have no idea why Ebbro would want to paint their own model in the wrong hue...?SteveNoble wrote:I'm wondering if the blue on this car ever changed..?? Some pictures of the real car show it very dark and others much lighter, more like what Ebbro show on their box art..AndyPerry wrote:
That blue looks really dark... It's horrible how off Ebbro is with the colour, on the box art and on the finished model pics, too.
I know jordan's research is second to none, so I'm sure his choice of colour has to be correct, I just can't understand why Ebbro dropped the ball so badly on this one...

Re: Rob Walker 72C in Progress
Hello guys,
Thanks for all the comments.Well, the pictures I have taken shows the car almost black but it is the same as on the Wolf WR1 wich is very dark blue and that realy shows when I put a real black car next to it.I might say that Ebbro got this wrong and they also made other mistakes. For as far as I know they did not mention that the wheels should be black at the USA and Mexican GP..
Andy : I got the Shell decals(another mistake from Ebbro) from my spares box and I can not recall from what kit they are..I did not use primer but instead I used TS29 (semi gloss black) as a basecoat. It is very strong and fast drying and is the perfect base for the very translucent TS55 (Wolf ).Make sure you sand the TS29 with 4000 or 6000 grid ( I use Micromesh ).I give 3 coats of TS55 with 24 hours drying time and light sanding 6000 grid between coats.
You need a lot of patience to do this. ...As I said before the choise of color I made is based on period pictures from the Walker Lotus 49 and 72 C.I try not to look to match at museum or restored cars because they are often repainted in a different shade..
Just my 2 cents,
Alex Nahooy.

Re: Rob Walker 72C in Progress
My best compliments to Alex.
Moreover, I agree with his choice for the colour: remember that it is the same colour Rob Walker used for Lotus 18, 49 and then 72...very darl blue.
May be it appear lighter in some pics, but it is due to the sun.
Cheers.
Ed

Hi Alex,
The "72" looks fab and I'd say the colour is spot on( a very dark blue, almost black) Those mirror stalks look hard work

Very nice build so far!
What about a Monza version too...
I agree with the choice of dark blue.
Ciao.

Re: Rob Walker 72C in Progress
Looks like you've nailed the colour with thorough research - dark blues can be difficult to assess with old photos, so well done for that. The model so far looks fantastic!
