What I have seen from now so far is Ebbro only producing black kits, and for sure the black plastic is much more cheaper to be produced than white plastic...more dark more cheaper, it can be used more used and recycled material.

it sounds a strange coincidence for me...only black kits...and this mp 4/30 is all black kit...

maybe like the lotus 88B....and bet next models from Ebbro are going to be black kits too...

Except for the Lotus 72C, which was red.

And the Rob Walker Lotus, which was blue.

And the Lotus 49 (green).

And the Tyrrells (blue).

And the 49B, which will presumably be red as well.

And the 2CV, Renault 4L and DS19 (all white).

But yes, apart from those few anomalies, they have released one other kit of a black car. ;)
Je ne regrette rien.

I think it would be worth the price of an extra kit just to leave it black with no livery.

I think it might be worth buying 3 or more extra copies for possible conversions, if decals are released. I've
looked through few hundreds of photos from couple of GPs so far and I think at least 3 conversions could
be possible from MP4/30 donor:

- Force India car. With nose and wing modifications, and different wheels. Probably closest in shape.
- Toro Rosso car. Also with nose and wing modifications, and different wheels. Not as close in shape, but
probably acceptable with more modifications to engine cover's top.
- Lotus car. Again, different nose, wings and wheels. Relatively similar in shape. More extensive modifications
to engine cover top and air intake would be needed.

I think even Red Bull conversion may be achieved with new decals, extensive mods and proper skills.

As usual I am probably way too optimistic, as there are a lot of smaller differences between those cars.
But with proper decals and if you're not too concerned about accuracy, disguises might be possible.

Saw the built and painted pics on Facebook. Shows the car in both early and late season livery. Really hope it comes with decals to do both or two different boxings. May be worth getting 3 to do another what if Mboro scheme.

Definitely looks good wonder what the price will be. It shouldn't be as high as other Ebbro kits since it doesn't have nearly the amount of detail. Let's hope.

I think the nose of the first one is pretty similar to the Ferrari as well. i'm excited for this to come out, even as I'm not a huge fan of McLaren.

I'm just glad that despite the turd of a car the real thing has been so far this season most everyone is supportive of an affordable plastic kit of a current season car. Hopefully the industry sees this and starts putting them out more regularly. I'm surprised that Tamiya hasn't done a Mercedes W05 seeing as it won just about everything last year and they seem to have some kind of licensing agreement with Mercedes since they just put out the 300SL. Anyway, I can't deny that this McLaren is a great looking car and I'll be getting a couple of these myself when it hits the shelves.
