Tamiya & SH modeling - Lotus Lamborghini 102
After more then 9 years I have finally finished this ambitious project!
And I have to say, that I am glad to present you the result!
Many thanks to Steffen Huebner for the idea to do this conversion, the resine nose cone, and the original decals, to wilchan for his WIP on modelersite that showed me how to deal with the conversions and all those who had helped me over the past few years with tips and hints how to do some modifications!
The car represents the one driven by Derek Warwick in the Canadian Grand Prix 1990. He scored one point for sixth place in this event, which turned out to be the best race by Team Lotus in 1990. They scored two more points in Hungary, but just because of two collisions a few laps before the end that eliminated Berger, Mansell and Nannini.
The following materials have been used to get this build done:
- Lotus 102B Judd modelkit by Tamiya
- A resine nosecone by Steffen Huebner based on a Lotus 101 nosecone
- Conversion decals by Shunko models
- Camel Lotus yellow by Zero Paints
You can find the WIP here:

It took a long time, but I enjoyed it very much! Please enjoy the pictures:

What a beauty. Top result, must be pre race because I remember Warwicks car being covered in oil and filth at the end of the race. Great work!!!

I like that a lot. Ever since I saw this interview with Warwick a while ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZejDlBWYPs) I've wanted to a conversion for this car, this is great inspiration for that too.
