Tamiya - Lotus 78 in 1/20

Post by Steffen_T »

The Lotus 78 was another of my long time projects. I had build my first one in the late 1990's as an Andretti version using the original Tamiya decals. I originaly wanted to build a Peterson version, but as the decals did not allow this, I went for Andrettis 1977 car. In 2003 studio27 released a transkit to build Tamiyas 1977 Lotus 78 as the Lotus 78 from the Italian Grand Prix 1978. I got this transkit back then together with another Tamiya Lotus 78 but soon found out that the studio27 decals did not include the victory laurels for the rearwing. Because of this I put the kit in the to-do-pile waiting for a correct decal sheet. The engine and the gearbox were started nevertheless.
Thanks to Tamiya and Hasegawa releasing the Lotus 79 and Tabu design releasing the decal sheets for these two and the 1978 Lotus 78 I could finally restart this project again. The driver figure is from gf-models.
During the build I had taken no pictures so there is nothing I can present you except the result:

Very nice. I think the 78 looks far better with Olympus on the sidepods. I made this exact same car last year.
