Ebbro Lotus 72E - Complete
Hello All,
Well, the Lotus 72E is finally complete !!!! In case you all may have forgotten, I started the 72E as part of the Group Build, and it ran a little longer than I expected due to me continuing to add correct and details, then repeated problems with the decals. Everything was finally overcome, and the project completed !!!! The details of what I changed/revised/added and the painting are as such:
Changes/Additions/Revisions:
• Replaced all molded fasteners with machined metal parts [RB Motion, T2M]
• Replaced Engine cam-covers w/ white metal parts (AZRM-Mac’s Modeling)
• Replaced intake trumpets with machined metal parts [Acu-Stion]
• Replaced dampers with machined metal parts [Acu-Stion]
• Replaced shifter with machined metal part. [Acu-Stion]
• Replaced brake rotors with P.E. parts [Acu-Stion]
• Replaced decals with full sponsor decals [Tabu]
• Replaced drive-shafts with stainless steel tube
• Added metal front tube frame. [Ebbro]
• Modified Distributor/Fuel Metering unit to reflect actual car.
• Modified roll hoop to reflect tubes on actual car
• Added fuel lines Metering Unit Injectors [MFH tube - clear brown]
• Added fuel system [RB Motion A/N Fittings, Detail Master Tube/wire]
• Added lubrication system [RB Motion A/N Fittings, T2M braided line]
• Added electrical system [MFH wiring]
• Remade and added emergency stop system [S27 P.E. ring, scratch-built remaining]
• Modified connections for cooling system [MFH Shrink tube, Acu-Stion Clamps]
• Replaced all heat exchanger surfaces with P.E. surfaces [MFH]
• Added switches and wiring from dash. [Hobby Design Switches, Sakatsu Wiring]
• Added seat-belts [S27 Hardware, Hobby Design Belts]
• Replaced shifter w/ machined metal part (AcuStion)
• Modified brake fluid reservoirs to simulate actual bottles (a little different actually….)
• Added brake lines and fittings (RB Motion banjo fittings, T2M braided line)
• Added tire valves [Sakatsu]
• Tires scrubbed contact surface and sidewalls “dirtied” to tone down markings.
• Added Battery mounting bracket & retaining strap, and terminal connections.
• Added brake and throttle lines from pedal box.
Paint:
Body:
Tamiya Grey Primer- x4 (basically until satisfied with the finish)

Here is how it all turned out: The WIP can be found here:

I am honestly very happy to finally have completed this one, and am pleased with the result.
It's been quite a ride .

Chris

LOVE IT. This is actually the very first F1 car that I had a die-cast model of, I believe it was a Matchbox about 1/32 scale unless I'm mistaken. I loved it then and I love this one now.
Great result Chris!!!

Epic build Chris, and I'm so pleased you overcame the decal issues as well. It would have been cruel to put all that work in to be tripped up at the finish line. Stunning model.

Hi Chris,
Well you crossed the finishing line!, and what a superb result. As you say, it was a "bumpy" ride at times, and modelling does it to us all now and then. I knew you'd get there
Atb, Alex

I made this kit a short while ago and really enjoyed the build but you have taken it to the next level. A fantastic result. Enjoyed following the WIP, glad you took the time to do one.
