Fuj MP4-27 LH.

Post by Bigasshammm »

Fujimi McLaren MP4-27 Lewis Hamilton. Added seat belts from the Top Studio MP4-13 set and ST27 carbon fibre decals. Alclad chrome covered with Alclad aqua gloss clear. I left off the second antennae because I didn't like the look of it. Artistic license and such! First time I used chrome with the aqua clear. There's some blemishes from some reaction with the clear, micro sol, and heat in some order. Live and learn.

Big thanks to 111110011111 (sp?) for a new part so I could complete the seat belts and get it buttoned up.

Not perfect but I'm happy with it. Hope you like.

Kris

It's amazing how much longer these are than the older cars. Sitting next to my B192 there's a huge difference.

Nice! Was the front wing as difficult as I've heard it to be?

It wasn't too bad. I put a bunch of parts together before paint but then had to modify the kit decals a little. I'd probably put a few less parts together when I build the second one I have in the stash. Although with the amount of parts and decals and then cf decals from the ST27 set there's probably about 80 total items on the front wing alone. It gets maddening.

I'm debating building my second as the Lotus with the conversion decals but I don't know how to change the nose.

I'm far from an expert, but could you build it as the 2011 Lotus? That didn't have a stepped nose, but it did have a similar decal scheme to the E20???

Maybe but Idk? There's a guy making the Lotus now with the conversion decal sheet but I'm not sure what version he's doing. I don't think he's stepping the nose either. I posted a question but the thread has disappeared from the currents so I don't think he responded yet. I'll have to look for it.

Either that or I'll build Button's car.

But a gloss black Lotus would look real good!

Thanks all for the kind words!

Looks great, Kris!! Love the paint and decal work. You've done Hamilton's ride justice!
