Ligier JS11 and JS11/15 finished.
Today I finally managed to finish the JS11 and JS11/15 kits. About the modifications to convert the JS11 into the JS11/15 late season version there is a WIP thread (http://www.f1m.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=11464). So here’s just a summary of the basic components:
Kits are the Tamiya JS11 which represent the early 1979 version. For the JS11/15 conversion some donor parts from the Tamiya RE30B were used namely the rear wheels, rear brake cooling ducts and the rear wing
Decals are from Indycals with the skirts decals from Steffen added for the JS11/15.
The JS11 is basically built OOB with modification (enlargements) to the skirts and the exchange of the plastic air funnel covers for mesh ones.
Paint comes from Tamiya too with the main body colour being TS44.
So here are the pictures. Enjoy!
First the JS11 representing the 1979 GP Argentina version:
Here’s the JS11/15 conversion representing the late 1980 version:
And here are some pictures to compare both versions:

great work-I'm inspired to do this kit now! Does anyone know why these tobacco ads are OK and others aren't? I recently did a Tamiya "SILK CAT" LeMans Jag and only realized it was missing the cigarette logos after it was too late! UG. Still, It's nice that the ban on tobacco ads in Europe has finally eliminated smoking as a popular activity

Hi JM,
Great build('s).
Which wing did you use as a donor for the JS11/15 for the rearwing?
There is just one thing (small comment) on the conversion.
The front of the sidepod's should be square at the bottum and not round as on the JS11.
See attached pic.
But as said before a great build and inspiration for me to also do a late '80 Ligier.

JM,
Next time lay down a sheet of 600 grit sand paper. Then take tires and slowly rotate them as you drag them across the sand paper to get that mold line off and make tires look scuffed.
BTW, I tried a sample of those GITANES cigarettes years ago at the Watkins Glen GP. Sorriest excuse for a cigarette I ever tasted! YUK!!! No wonder the Europeans like American tobacco!
