Bit of an update,..
Ended up stripping the exhaust of that horrid Krylon chrome,..thinking on a different approach,.. the solder I have is the right size,...?

and while I'm thinking I broke out the Scale motorsports P/E upgrade kit.
I sanded all the Tamiya rivet detail off the cockpit tub..
Image
The P/E set is beautiful,..detailed , precise, smooth,....ya so I had to change that,..
Image
I sanded each piece with 400 g then polished using Autosol metal polish...just to make it look a little more used,...

I used Insta-Cure+ Medium..5-15 sec. Still very quick adhesion,..but just enough time to move it,...onceImageImage
I'll get back to those exhausts,.. when I'm ready,...
Right now tho I really gotta get some sleep that was a long bench sit so ya cheers

Hi Bruce,

I like your idea of making your own engine stand, that'll make things much easier.
All the extra work you've applied with the SMS P/E set looks excellent. The tub looks much more realistic.
I'm watching this thread with interest and I look forward to your next update.

Cheers, Paul

Hey all,..
Thanks for the comments, I appreciate the interest,....keeps me going, sometimes.:)
Paul, Ya the engine stand was needed, as I plan on adding quite a bit of wiring and plumbing.
Hey Randy D is in the house! I guess P/E sets are available for anything now.((just found one for the 312T(next project))!
A bit more P/E fun,..
Image
Sanded and polished the firewall,..Details straight sanded for some visual interest
Image
The undercarriage got a straight sanding with 220!! It looks really deep in this picture,...but it's not.
Next step, Vallejo dark wash, to pick out all the rivet heads,...
Keep ya posted
Cheers

Very nice model choice!
I have the SMS Set too with some other stuff and i`m quiet happy when i see that the SMS set fit`s so well!
Still watching your progress with interest, will you replace the etched rivets against real one`s?
Take a stand!
