WIP Lola T92 - Nelson Piquet Indy '93
Hi guys. This is my first time here. I’m a braziliam guy who lives in a city where is very dificult to get kits and all the stuff needed to do a good model. My last model was about 10 years ago and my skills is very far from some works shown here. But at the same time I’m learning a lot with you and try to use some of your tricks and techniques. Sorry for my bad english, is unusual to me to write in english.
Like I said, is difficult to get good materials here, so I’ll try to use alternative tools and materials.
Well, let me tell about modeling. I always build my models “straight from the box”, never used airbrush, clearcoat... and I think it’s a good time to try new techniques, most of them learned from this forum. I have 3 kits to build, but I have a model builded about 15 years ago and now I’ll try to rebuild and do a convertion. The kit is the Tamiya 1/20 Lola T93/00 Ford Dick Simon I’ll try to convert to the Lola T92 raced in Indianápolis-93, drived by Nelson Piquet. I have no decals yet, but I plan to order with Indycals soon.
The chassis T92 and T93 has some diferences you can see in the green circles in the pictures. I’ve never modified any kit, so I expect some troubles.
The rear of T92 is a little “fatter” than the T93, so I used pieces of plastic sheet like in the pictures. Now some putting and sanding are waiting for me. Wish me luck!
The rear suspension arms are in a diferent position too, but I decided to let the way it is. Better make one step at a time.
PS.: I don’t have much time to spend on the hobby, so this WIP probably take longer than others.
PS 2: I almost forgot... Piquet’s T92 used a Buick engine and T93 is a Ford engine, so it ‘ll be a curbside of course.
Thanks for the tricks and tips I learned here.

Thanks, guys. Like I said, I never used airbrush and this is like a test before other "new" models. I hope the result be ok.
Fingers crossed.

Benvindo José, the people here in this forum is very nice and I'm sure you will enjoy to show your work and to see other's works here.
Florianópolis may have not very good sources for modeling stuff, but it's an wonderful city, with beautiful beaches and very funny people, I hope to come back to your city soon.
Cheers,
Marcelo.
PS: do you know Terlizzi from RTN Models? He lives in Floripa.

Good luck on your build. I'd love to do a T92 conversion. (The Scott Goodyear/Mackenzie version). I saw the original a few years back. I have some pictures if you need more reference material.

Florianópolis really is a wonderful city with wonderful people.
I do not even know Terlizzi or RTN Models, but now I look for him and the RTN.
Is hard to find good pictures of T92, especially of Piquet's orange Menards. Any material will be very helpful. Thanks.Brooklin1 wrote:Good luck on your build. I'd love to do a T92 conversion.
