Simil.R Ford Focus WRC10 1/24

Post by generationx »

The SimilR Ford Focus WRC10 is available! Here’s a review (sorry for the orange colour, these were taken in early evening light!):

Nice box art, looking to be a touched-up photograph. The box is quite shallow, much more so than Tamiya, and it is quite light gauge card which isn’t as tough as we’d expect from the Japanese or Revell guys…

Image

Consequently the box is packed!

Image

Nicely drawn instructions, very clear

Image

Large decal set by Cartograf

Image

The tyres are quite unusual, with a very road pattern. Maybe these can be replaced by Tamiya ones

Image

A small sheet of photo-etch

Image

Multi-part body with separate doors

Image

Nice interior door panels – will benefit from some carbon fibre

Image

Full roll-cage, but some moulding detail is a little “soft”

Image

Lots more bits, including service park stands which will make for a nice display option

Image

Thin, clear, shiny window parts

Image

Renaissance already has a p/e set with some great reference photos

Image

So there you go. Looks to be available now – I’ve seen it on Grand Prix Models and Hiroboy - and Domino (where I got mine) will be producing some sprays to match the blue and green. Nice.

Great to see a new manufacturer, and also a new modern WRC kit.

The kit looks really nice. I hope to see some Formula 1 cars at 1/20th from SimilR.
Cheers,
MT.

I received mine about a week ago. The kit looks pretty good to me, but i don't like the livery. I got some Ken Block aftermarket decals from colorado for the Mexican WRC rally 2010. I don't know if they will fit, but i will make it work.

Looks very nice. I'd like to pick one up soon, maybe at Automodellismo in June.
